Asked a question last year

Why the colour of a civil engineer's cap is only white?

Why the colour of a civil engineer's cap is only white? What is the purpose of it?

Where am I?

In TheConstructor you can ask and answer questions and share your experience with others!

To be more precise, the purpose of helmet color codes is to serve two main objectives:
1. Identification of person and his responsibilities
2. Safety against accidents and falling objects

There is a set of standard helmet colors as instructed by the safety law of the region or the country. Some variations can occur based on the contractual agreements. Generally,
1. White Helmet is for managers, engineers, supervisors, and foremen
2. Blue is for electricians, civil workers, and carpenters
3. Green is for safety officers
4. Red is for firefighters
5. Yellow is for laborers
6. Brown is for welders and workers exposed to heat works
7. Grey is for site visitors

It’s not true. You’re wrong.

The colour of the civil engineer’s helmet on site is white and not yellow. That is the convention.

The purpose is to differentiate the engineer from other professionals on site. Every other kind of professional has a different colour helmet on site.  The yellow one is for labourers skilled and unskilled both. Giving yellow helmet to engineers is disrespect in a sense.

An engineer must always demand or arrange for a white helmet for himself on site.

It turns out that colors like yellow and red are common indicative colours that appear in nature, and humans, along with many predators have evolved to easily spot such colorations. However yellow is a bright and noticeable colour that doesn't usually appear elsewhere in our modern world, so is easily noticed.
