Difference between water content and LOD:

Basically, When we talk about water content than the water content is determined by Karl Fischer titration method.

Water content basically deals with the water that is moisture only.

LOE stands for loss in drying.

Loss in the drink can be easily determined with the help of heat in the sample below its melting point in an oven. 

Loss in heat method includes all volatile matter including water content and solvents.

Hi, LOD-Loss on drying is calculated by heating the given sample below its melting pt. in an oven. it contains all volatiles matters contains water and various solvents. LOD  is an indefinite analytical method for removing all volatile impurities like alcohol etc. from a given sample. Water content is also called as moisture content. It is the quantity of water contained in a material pore if present in soil (called soil moisture). If all pores are filled with water then it is called as saturated water.

Water content is determined by the Karl Fischer titration method and it consists of only water i.e moisture content. The results do not contain other volatile matter except the water.

Loss on drying (LOD) is determined by heating the sample below its melting point in an oven and it includes all volatile matter including water content and solvents. LOD is the loss on drying to test as per prescribed conditions which gives loss (presence) of all evaporating solvents.
