Gunia means simply a diagonal checking of the rectangular area.

Gunia in building construction:

  • Gunia means simply a diagonal checking of the rectangular area.
  • It is based on the Pythagoras theorem.
  • Duniya is also called a 3,4,5 rule.

In Pythagoras theorem, a2+ b2= c2

Let’s say if you wanna check the building’s diagonal. Given data:

  • Height of building is 10 metre
  • Width of the building is also 10 metre

To find:

  • The diagonal of the opposite corners of the building

Solution:

Here,

  • a =10 m
  • b=10 m
  • C=?

Using Pythagoras theorem,

We get,

c= 14.14 m

Thank you.

Guniya means diagonal checking of the rectangular area. It is based on Pythagoras theorem it is also called the 3,4,5 rule. In Pythagoras theorem a22+b22= c22

Suppose we want to check the diagonal of a building. Its length is 10m and width is also 10m. Now to calculate the perpendicularity of the oppo. corners of the structure must be same.

a=10m , b=10m and c=?

using Pythagoras theorem putting the values in it

(10)22 +(10)22 = c22

100+100 =c22

200=c22

c=200

Hence both sides a+b=c proving Pythagoras theorem the rectangular area diagonal is correct.

Gunia is a way to check perpendicularly of walls or boundaries. Suppose you have two walls meeting perpendicularly, but you want to be precisely sure that the angle is 90º. So, what is generally done is, from the corner a point at a distance of 3m is marked on one wall and that at a distance of 4m on the other. Now, according to the Pythagorean theorem, the distance measured between these two marked points has to be accurately 5m got the walls to be perpendicular. And that’s what we wanted to check.
