Trigonometry is the best method which can be used to predict the height of the building without using equipment. But if possible than you can also ask to see the builders plan.

I assume you want to measure it. Several methods come to mind:

Trigonometry. Find a spot where you can stand that the top of the building is exactly 45 degrees above your horizontal sight line. Then, measure the horizontal distance with a tape, or by stepping it off.

Gravity. Drop a heavy weight from the top (heavy enough that its OK to ignore air resistance). Time the fall, and do the math.

Estimates. Count the floors, and estimate a height of each. Or, count wall panels. Count steel sets inside the elevator shafts. Steps on the stairways. Many different estimates.

There’s definitely other ways to do this, but these came to mind first.

Today, I will tell you one interesting and tricky technique applied to measure the height of a building without using any equipment expect tape.

  1. Hand measuring:

The hand measuring technique is used to measure the height of a building without using any equipment to expect tape.

Tools Required:

  • Your Hand
  • Measuring Tape.
  • String
  • Tape

procedure:

  1. First, we open our hand and extend fully with all fingers.
  2. We have to measure the height of our hand and that is the distance in between the tip of Thumb and the tip of the little finger
  3. Then we consider the height of our extended hand from thumb to little finger is 1 unit
  4. Then we have to measure the length of an arm using extended hands and it is used as a reference measuring unit.
  5. Find the ratio of your height of the extended hand to the length of your arm and then round it to a simple fraction
  6. The actual process starts from here. After closing the one eye, we have to look down our straightened arm for locating an object in the appropriate distance that we can just barely span the height of our extended hand
  7. Marking our location on the floor with the help of a piece of tape.
