A spatial structure composed of multiple rods connected by nodes in a certain grid form. It has the advantages of small space force, light weight, high rigidity and good seismic performance; it can be used as the roof of buildings such as gymnasiums, theaters, exhibition halls, waiting halls, stadium stand awnings, hangars, and two-way large column spacing workshops. The disadvantage is that the number of rods that meet on the nodes is large, and the production and installation are more complicated than the plane structure.
The term 'space structures' or 'spatial structures' is used in the world of architecture and structural engineering to indicate loadbearing structures that require 3-dimen- sional space to act and to be stable.
